About the Candidate
Michael has lived and worked in South Dakota for over two decades. Raised with the values of hard work, faith, and community, he built his career here and has watched this great state grow — and seen the challenges that come with that growth firsthand.
A small business owner and community leader, Michael understands what it means to meet a payroll, navigate regulations, and advocate for neighbors when the system isn't working. He is not a career politician — he is a South Dakotan who believes in servant leadership.
Where I Stand
Below are Michael's first policy positions for the campaign. He is committed to listening to the residents of District 10 and putting the needs of voters first.
I am the Republican nominee for the South Dakota Senate in District 10 in NE Sioux Falls. I am committed to advocating for all voters in District 10, in Sioux Falls. I believe that all residents deserve to have an economy that is growing and producing good-paying jobs across this great city. I believe that it is important to create an environment for job growth. This involves eliminating unnecessary regulations and red tape that harm economic growth and job creation. As a South Dakota Senator, I will work with the Governor's Office of Economic Development and other related entities to secure funding for projects in Sioux Falls. Additionally, I will support public-private partnerships when possible.
I believe that encouraging entrepreneurship is essential for growing the economy and creating jobs. As a South Dakota Senator, I will support legislation and solutions to grow South Dakota's GDP (Gross Domestic Product). I also believe that further development of the energy resources in South Dakota is essential to a strong economy. I will support South Dakota farmers and producers at all times. As a South Dakota Senator, I pledge to listen to all farmers and their concerns. I will be an advocate for all South Dakota producers and farmers every day. I will always put the needs of voters first, regardless of their political status.
I understand that abortion rights can be a personal and sensitive topic for many voters. I pledge that if elected, I will be as respectful as possible with any voter regarding abortion rights. I personally am Pro-Life. I support limited exceptions regarding medical emergencies for the life of the mother. I will not seek to proactively expand, or further restrict, abortion rights in South Dakota.
I am committed to advocating for the 2nd Amendment rights of residents in District 10 and South Dakota. I support gun safety for all eligible gun owners in South Dakota.
I understand that the death penalty can also be a sensitive topic in South Dakota. I personally support the death penalty rarely, and only in extreme circumstances determined by the discretion of the presiding judge for the case. I do not support the death penalty being determined by the jury in the case.
